The Moss Skirt by Grainline Studios is a new pattern we have in the shop and a class coming up next month! It's the perfect skirt to pair with leggings this fall and winter! Connie was excited to dive into this pattern and used this fun graphic print from the Charlie Harper canvas line called Cardinal Stagger. Here's what Connie had to say about the pattern.
"I really enjoyed sewing the Moss Skirt! Grainline's patterns are always really well written and easy to understand, even when tackling something new. The way the fly and waistband goes together is really clever and leaves you with a really professional looking garment. I didn't add length to this version, but I plan to on my next Moss. It's definitely a mini skirt as written, but it would be really easy to add the band from View B or just add length. I have loved the fit and shape of every Grainline pattern I've made (the Morris Blazer, the Linden sweatshirt, the Willow tank and now the Moss). Sizing has always been spot on and I'm always really pleased with my garment."
Jean is teaching the Moss Skirt as a two part class in November. While this isn't a beginner class, it is a great way to grow your sewing skills. Especially if you've ever wanted to make pants! Learn the fly first with the Moss Skirt. Jean will be there to help you achieve a great fit and walk you through the pattern.
We've got some great fabrics in the shop right now that would be perfect for this skirt!
(Melton means that it is a tightly woven, felted and brushed fabric which equals awesome!!)

Jen from Grainline has a step by step tutorial on her blog for doing the fly.
It's always interesting to hear other people's perspectives! I found Ginger Makes and Crab and Bee's blog posts really interesting! Ginger Makes used the extra band from View B and Crab and Bee just added length to the skirt. Both look really great!
