Our classes are now online for the next three months! We can't wait to have you and your kids in a class at Modern Textiles. We've made a few changes to our structure for kids classes that we wanted to tell you about.
New Class Project List:
Kids! Sewing 101: Kids can learn the basic fundamentals of how to safely use a sewing machine while making an envelope pillow. The project is fun and useful, but also easy enough to ensure success. Your child will leave the class proud of their project and ready to keep sewing!
Class Fee: $30, Includes fabric and pillow form.
Kids! Sewing 102: Taking the skills learned in Sewing 101, kids will refine the skills making our Modern Textiles Tote Bag. Our tote bag kit comes cut and ready to sew, which simplifies the steps to make sure the kids can complete their bag during class. Learning the skills to construct the bag, continued practice on the sewing machine and having fun are the goals of the class.
Class Fee: $25, Plus Tote Bag kit, $20
Kids! Sewing 103: The next project we recommend for kids is the zipper pouch. Installing a zipper can be intimidating, so we like to get the fear out of the way! Your child will be excited to make more and show off their skills. The zipper pouch is a great gift idea and can be made in many sizes.
Class Fee: $25, Plus Zipper Pouch kit, $12.75
From here we encourage you to explore our Kids! Create classes. These classes let your child be the designer. Each series is centered around a theme, kids sketch their designs and the instructor helps bring them to life. Some independent sewing is involved, so it's important that your child has the right foundation from our introductory series of classes to help them be successful in Kids! Create.

Are you as passionate as we are about teaching kids to sew? We would love to offer our Kids! sewing classes to kids that might not have the opportunity to learn to sew otherwise. We are starting a scholarship program for just this reason. The classes and supplies will be available at a discounted rate, but we need your help to make it happen.
