Can you tell we want to keep YOU sewing! Another free tutorial today! Our newest tutorial – The Collection Throw may have a simple design, but that’s just so you can let the fabric shine! This is the time to splurge on the fat quarter bundle of your favorite collection and create an amazing throw that we guarantee will be your new favorite.
Our sample Collection Throw is made from a stack of fat quarters from Print Shop by Alexia Abegg for Cotton + Steel. It is one of our all time favorites and we were anxious to put it to use right away. Sometimes when you are in love with a fabric, it’s best not to mess with it too much. That’s what’s great about the Collection Throw – the beautiful fabric gets to shine in our classic patchwork design. But wait until you feel this quilt. We didn’t stop there – we knew this would be our new favorite, so we used only the best to finish it. Wool batting from Quilter’s Dream makes it feel like a cloud. Fluffy, squishy and just perfect to cozy up with. For the back – organic cotton fleece from Birch Fabrics. We upped the cozy factor ten fold with this stuff! We’ve got some amazing new colors of fleece in stock – and even better, they are 58” wide so no need to piece the back! 1-3/4 yards is all you need to back your quilt.
We decided to go simple with this one and sewed it right sides together, turned it out and tied the quilt with perle cotton in fun colors.
